Neela the Great Dane (chicken) : Louisville Pet Photographer

Almost the entire month of April here in Louisville Kentucky, was jam packed with "spring showers" but they were really spring STORMS! For about two weeks straight we had storms, either during the day or at night. The daytime storms didn't bother me near as bad as the night time storms for one reason and one reason only... Neela the chicken dog.

You would think that a 120 pound Great Dane wouldn't be afraid of anything. NOPE not my Neela. She is afraid of everything, that list starts at hula hoops and ends with storms. Our nightly routine for about two weeks straight was:
  • I go to bed early because I know that storms are moving in
  • Neela wakes me up by jumping on the bed
  • She gets as close to me as possible (if not across the top of my head) and pants as fast as she can
  • The bed shakes
  • I try to go back to sleep
  • I don't go back to sleep
  • I make her get off the bed and lay down right beside me on the floor so I can put my hand on her back
And now for the one that made me get out the camera

  • Neela crawls under my bed (I have almost NO SPACE under my bed)
  • 2am I get my camera so I can prove that she did it... because I don't think anyone would believe me.
  • 2:15am I have to lift the bed up so she can get out (she decided it was a bad idea)
  • 2:30 she finally lays down beside my bed and goes to sleep (I'm sure this was a direct result of the storm passing)
  • 2:35 I go back to sleep
Yay for NO storms and a full night's sleep! :)
