Trying something new...Need your help!

So I am going to try something new here on the blog. I know that I do not blog as much as I need to and I am going to try and get better at that (I may make it one of my New Year's Resolutions). In an attempt to be a more consistent and productive blogger, I am going to post about topics that might be helpful to my clients.

If there is anything that you want to know about write it in the comments and let me know!

I have done some brainstorming and come up with a few ideas that I think my clients might be interested in, but it's always good to get some feed back.

So let me know what you want to hear about... I can already tell you that my love, LOVE of shoes has me so super excited to do some shoe posts... because I just LOVE shoes... especially amazing wedding shoes. My heart starts racing when I open the bride's shoe box to reveal what she has chosen to complete her look.

Shoes complete an outfit! They can make a great outfit absolutely awesome! And gentlemen don't think your shoes don't matter... Oh THEY MATTER! I have seen plenty of well dressed men with the exception of their shoes. LADIES make sure your men have nice shoes, they polish off a good style like nothing else. That is my public service announcement for the week... :)

Hope you are having a great week and putting the finishing touches on your Christmas shopping (I haven't even started yet... ha!)

Family...

Family is so important, especially documenting your family's personality through pictures. Having your family's true personality shown in your family session really defines "Lifestyle" photography.... What a awesome thing to be able to share with your kids and grandkids.

My sister moved away and we don't get to see her and her beautiful family very often anymore. They came in for Thanksgiving and we decided to do a last minute session with her and her family (we even put Mama in front of the camera a couple of times). We had a blast! There were so many that I liked... It was very hard for me to decided which ones I wanted to blog...

Long Time!

Wow!

It's been a very long time since I've posted on here! I am so sorry for letting things get too busy and neglecting the blog! I have so many exciting things to share. I have still been working and taking pictures, I've just been very pressed for time and blogging was one of the things that happened to get knocked off the list.

I am teaching 3rd grade (as you can see the blog is still a work in progress) again this year and finishing up my Kentucky Teacher Internship program. This has been extremely time consuming, but YAY for me, it will be over in a matter of weeks! (as in 3... woo hoo!!)

I have also started a new chapter in my life. This has required a total lifestyle change. I am now officially a competitive body builder, figure division. I participated in two competitions this past fall and let me tell you, I am hooked! It was so much fun and the girls I compete with are absolutely AMAZING! They are beautiful on the inside and out! I am a member of an amazing team, coached by Julie Lohre (she is a God-send... no words for her... think of amazing, and then multiply that by 100... seriously), and the girls on this team are some of the most encouraging, supportive, strong, beautiful, funny women on the planet. I love them all!!

So that has been my past 6 months in a nutshell... I hope everyone is doing well! I will be posting some updated pictures soon! I've had some awesome sessions!

Now 3 almost 4 : Louisville Maternity Photographer

Look at this beautiful family that I had in the studio this weekend! Aren't they just adorable?!? I am so glad that I had the opportunity to do their Growing Family session. Schedules were crazy and I think we slid it in right under the wire. Lindsey says she has three weeks left, but I would be very surprised if Jackson doesn't want to meet everyone before then!  :)

Here are a few shots from their session!

Bridal Session : Louisville Wedding Photographer

I took a little time tonight to go through some old pictures of mine and I found this bridal session that I hadn't had the chance to blog yet. I loved the birdcage veil and the cool locations that we visited downtown during this session. Take a peek and tell me what you think :)

Neela the Great Dane (chicken) : Louisville Pet Photographer

Almost the entire month of April here in Louisville Kentucky, was jam packed with "spring showers" but they were really spring STORMS! For about two weeks straight we had storms, either during the day or at night. The daytime storms didn't bother me near as bad as the night time storms for one reason and one reason only... Neela the chicken dog.

You would think that a 120 pound Great Dane wouldn't be afraid of anything. NOPE not my Neela. She is afraid of everything, that list starts at hula hoops and ends with storms. Our nightly routine for about two weeks straight was:
  • I go to bed early because I know that storms are moving in
  • Neela wakes me up by jumping on the bed
  • She gets as close to me as possible (if not across the top of my head) and pants as fast as she can
  • The bed shakes
  • I try to go back to sleep
  • I don't go back to sleep
  • I make her get off the bed and lay down right beside me on the floor so I can put my hand on her back
And now for the one that made me get out the camera

  • Neela crawls under my bed (I have almost NO SPACE under my bed)
  • 2am I get my camera so I can prove that she did it... because I don't think anyone would believe me.
  • 2:15am I have to lift the bed up so she can get out (she decided it was a bad idea)
  • 2:30 she finally lays down beside my bed and goes to sleep (I'm sure this was a direct result of the storm passing)
  • 2:35 I go back to sleep
Yay for NO storms and a full night's sleep! :)

Derby Engagement Session: Louisville Photographer

I had the wonderful opportunity to help Audrey of Audrey Coley Photography with an on-location engagement session this past weekend. It was at the beautiful White Hall here in Louisville, which is also the venue that this couple is getting at married next June.

This lovely couple dressed up in their Derby Attire, they were absolutely stunning! We used some dramatic lighting inside the house to highlight their wonderful outfits. Here are a couple of shots from that evening.
