Maker's Mark: Kentucky Bourbon Trail: Louisville Photographer

I am from and still live in Kentucky. Kentucky is known for many different things like the Kentucky Derby or basketball, but it is also know for its bourbon. There is a self guided "trail" called the Kentucky Bourbon trail that you can take. It guides you around to six different distilleries in our state. At the first distillery a passport is picked up and every distillery you visit there after a stamp is received. If you happen to get a full passport (which does not have to be completed in any particular amount of time) and you mail it in to the Kentucky Distillers Association, a complimentary T-shirt will be sent in return. You can check all of this out in more detail at www.kybourbontrail.com

After living in Kentucky all of my life I had never been to any of the distilleries. On my spring break I decided to find the Maker's Mark distillery and grab some pictures. It was a beautiful day and I learned a slew of information on the free tour of the grounds (which included a free tasting). There was also an opportunity at the end of the tour, or in the gift shop to dip your own bottle of Maker's (or anything else they sell in the store, they dip everything). I highly recommend anyone who has any interest in this topic to head out and visit this facility. It really is a beautiful place.
